I have authored 9 pieces of legislation that have become law within the past three years. Additionally I have been the chief-sponsor of over a dozen bills that I will continue to seek legislative approval on. I am also the co-sponsor of 100 bi-partisan bills that have been signed by the Governor to become law.

Several pieces of legislation (which have become law) that I am particularly proud to have been chief sponsor or co-sponsor of are:

• HB 35 - Helping to pass Illinois’ landmark new transparency law establishing an online public database of all state expenditures, contracts, and salaries (TRANSPARENCY IN GOVERNMENT);

• HB78 - My sponsorship of the Farm Fresh Schools Act to promote greater health and wellness amongst youth through a school-based nutritional program (PUBLIC HEALTH & FARMING             PROMOTION);
  

• HB1239 - Ovarian Cancer Screening Law…includes ovarian cancer screenings within the definition of preventative health services to be offered by community health centers (WOMAN’S HEALTH);
  

• HB1242 - Business tax credit for start-up costs for providing employee child care (PRO-BUSINESS);
  

• HB5930 - Amends the Government Buildings Energy Cost Reduction Act of 1991 (PRO-ENVIRONMENT & GOV’T COST REDUCTION)
  

• SB14/HB260 - Amends the Sex Offender Registration Act (PUBLIC SAFETY).
